United
State of America is the country that called as the super power country.Many people
from other country come and stay at the rest in America. America is the same
word with the “HOPE” to those who migrate to this country. This country
dominates economical site, military, and technology to the whole world that is
why many people from other country choose this country to hang their fortune to
have better life. Multiculturalism remains in this country. People who live in
this country is complex, some come from Asia, Europe, China, Africa etc. It
called reach in diversity. One of the uniqueness from multicultural in America
is Amish tribes. We know that our daily life depend on technology, we need
technology to make an easier thing in our daily life. However, it is different
with Amish tribes. They preserve the natural life. They care about nature; the
way they live is natural. They have family group, which is tied as their traditional
method to live together.
Amish
tribes live in east coast America, Dutch county Lancaster, and along Mt. Pennsylvania it is around 3 hours from New York City. Amish tribes came from
Europe (Dutch and German), they built their village in 1730.Now days, Amish
tribes spread along Canada and California. The languages they use are German
and Dutch; they use English with people who are not the Amish.
Amish
tribes never leave their tradition; they live in natural fully, they do not
depend on electronic. At night, they do not use electricity to light their
house, candle and torch is the lamp they use to light the places, and the main
purpose for the life is to hold the nature as their prime life. The main jobs
of Amish tribes are farmer,breeder, and trader.What they plants are the outcome
for their live. They use natural sources for their needs. Amish do not have
tractor to plow up the field. Amish tribes do not think about the money for
their prime, they think money just kind of tool to help the barter systems.They
live unpretentious, People walk to reach some places, or they go by buggy and
some by bicycle.
Christian Protestant dominates them as their religion.
Amish community are very religious, they commit, and obedient with the religion
they believe in, they love nature very much, they do not want to destroy the
nature because they believe in Karma.
The
way they cloth is simple with no colorful in pattern. The men wear trousers
and shirt, suspender, and hat. The men are prohibited to grow their beard and mustache before marriage life. For women style are the same, they wear long
dress with no full color. Amish community know about technology. Adult people
introduce technology to the children before baptism, after baptize parents ask
the children to choose the life as an Amish without technology or if the
children refused they might move out from the community. People have to marry
with the same tribes too.
In
their community, they live in harmony, have family group who help each other.
They keep and preserve the values life as the rules of life, simplicity life.
One thing and lamentable is the children only have education until grade 8
(they start to study at 7 years old until 13 years old), after all they have to
go back to work in farm or as the farmer.
Here
what I want to share about the Amish is the simplicity life; instead, the people
from whole over the world consider about technology and cannot live without
technology but the Amish tribes concern with the nature in spite of the world
in technology systems. The way they live is always relate to the beauty of
nature. The contrary life aspect in America which call sophisticated in
technology but the Amish who live in America do not influenced by the
advancement of technology, because they believe in God who create the nature,
and the aim of the life from Amish tribes is live in harmony without destroy
the gift from God.
